Falconboard is built to perform where ordinary display materials fall short. Rigid, lightweight, strong and highly printable, it offers the stability and adaptability needed for everything from retail displays and signage to large-scale creative installations. Its capabilities are so versatile, they have even helped bring a Guinness World Record™ setting project to life.
What is Falconboard?
Falconboard is a sustainable rigid media board engineered for strength, stability and versatility. It delivers the beam and compression strength needed for demanding applications while remaining lightweight and easy to handle. Available in standard and custom sizes, Falconboard can be fabricated into a wide range of shapes and configurations for interior signage, exhibits, framing, mounting and high-impact retail displays.
With smooth, flat surfaces and bright white options that enhance color accuracy and visual impact, Falconboard supports direct printing with excellent brightness and printability. It also resists scuffing and works well with most inks and adhesives, giving designers and fabricators a dependable substrate for professional results.
Falconboard in Action
Those combined benefits—strength without added weight, dependable print performance, and fabrication flexibility—make Falconboard a practical choice for everyday display work. They also make it an unexpected solution for extraordinary creative challenges, such as bringing a Guinness World Record-setting installation to life.
When the Library Foundation of Los Angeles, together with the Los Angeles Public Library and artist Daniel González, set out to create a massive pop-up book, they enlisted Goodnight & Company to help with construction and engineering. Initially, Goodnight & Company selected another material for the installation, but midway through production, that material did not meet expectations. With the deadline approaching, the team was introduced to Falconboard. Falconboard met the paper-based requirement, delivered the needed strength and reliability, and supported the printing and graphics demands of the project.
The installation, called Luceros y Penumbras, is recognized by Guinness World Records as the largest pop-up book ever created. Weighing close to 2,000 pounds and measuring approximately 31 feet by 20 feet, the book features pop-up elements that rise more than 11 feet tall. Located in the rotunda of the Richard J. Riordan Central Library in Los Angeles, the finished piece brought an artist’s vision to life, while demonstrating Falconboard’s real-world performance in an exceptionally demanding application.
