PCA employees at the company’s Edmore, Michigan, sheet plant regularly partner with United Methodist Volunteers in Missions (UMVIM) to provide support to the Haitian people.
Nick Main, one of the plant’s Machine Operators, and his wife Nikki have been involved for years with a local ministry group in Edmore that goes to Haiti each year and works with an orphanage. Thomas Munger, a Designer, joined the Mains and their group in 2010 and has been going ever since.
The team buys building materials in advance of the trip and ships the supplies to Haiti. Upon arrival, they build an orphanage or improve an existing one. In 2019, for example, they constructed a shelter for an orphanage. They also helped build a kitchen, with Thomas doing much of the electrical work himself.
According to Nick: “PCA has continued to donate funds each year to local mission teams that travel to Haiti to provide aid as needed. Most recently PCA answered the call for help from UMVIM, and within days they provided shipping boxes that were specifically made to protect the medical supplies being shipped to Haiti. PCA continues to display their commitment to helping those in need!”
