For the second consecutive year, PCA hosted the American Red Cross at its corporate headquarters in Lake Forest, Illinois. Nearly 30 employees volunteered to donate lifesaving blood.
Every two seconds someone in the United States needs blood. One donation can potentially save up to three lives. Blood cannot be manufactured; it can only come from volunteer donors.
“I am so grateful to the community-minded volunteers who are willing to plan and organize the event,” said Chris Changnon, Executive Director of Corporate Human Resources. “With their help we’re hoping to double the amount we collected last year.”
Tina Mathias, PCA’s Marketing Project Manager, initiated the program and organizes the drives. “Sometimes it's not about how much money we contribute to charitable organizations, but about what we do to impact our local communities,” she said. “Donating blood only takes a few minutes of your time, but will have a huge impact on someone's life.”
In addition to PCA’s corporate office blood drive, the company’s Boise Paper division has sponsored the Red Cross for several years, partially by donating office paper, which helps offset the organization’s administrative costs.
