The International Corrugated Packaging Foundation (ICPF) was established over 30 years ago to generate a stream of qualified students to enter the corrugated industry. PCA has partnered with ICPF over the years and was recently able to contribute packaging and books for a drawing at the foundation’s Student/Executive Dialogue Dinner.
The dinner was attended by 20 students selected from packaging schools nationwide, as well as representatives from companies in the corrugated industry. The evening included a dialogue on corrugated packaging careers.
The next day was ICPF’s annual teleconference entitled “The Business of Corrugated Packaging and the Career Opportunities.” Company representatives who spoke provided the students with firsthand knowledge of the industry. Over 500 students and faculty from 19 campuses participated in the teleconference. After the presentation, students asked questions of the industry panel speakers. One panel member was a 2018 graduate of Virginia Tech who was hired through ICPF to work at PCA’s Seattle sheet plant.
PCA looks forward to continuing to participate with ICPF in the coming years.
