On July 28 PCA’s full-line plant in Newark, Ohio, participated in the Ohio State Fair’s Technology and Engineering Education exhibit, manning a booth for their hands-on project and explaining the science of making corrugated.
Participants at the booth assembled toy sailboats from corrugated board developed by a member of PCA’s design team using computer-aided design (CAD) technology. This was a fun way for students to learn how design and engineering are used to innovate. They also took pictures sitting in a large corrugated sailboat that PCA brought to the fair.
According to the Newark plant’s Design Manager, who coordinated PCA’s participation: “It was exciting to see the smiles and hear the laughter as the day went on. Those that stopped by left with not just a boat, but with a newfound appreciation for what PCA is all about. We kept hearing people say they have a concern for the environment and want to make sure a healthy planet is here for generations to come.”
Leftover boat pieces and the big boat were donated to a local Ohio bookstore.
