Packaging Corporation of America’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Mark Kowlzan, has been elected to serve as Chairman of the American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) for a one-year term. He was selected by the Board of Directors of the AF&PA, which consists of 21 corporate leaders from the paper and packaging industry.
Kowlzan joined PCA in 1996 and became CEO in 2010. Additionally, he was named Chairman in January 2016.
As Chairman of the AF&PA, Kowlzan’s role will be to lead the Board of Directors in advocacy on important policy issues. This will involve communication with government organizations, including Congress and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), as well as elected officials and industry stakeholders around the world. According to Kowlzan, “Our industry has an aggressive advocacy agenda this year, which we will pursue to ensure that our industry’s perspective on issues such as regulatory overreach, energy, transportation, tax and trade are heard by national and state political leaders.”
The chief goals of the AF&PA are to promote the sustainability of U.S. forest products and contribute cutting-edge research and statistics. To discover more about the AF&PA, visit their website at www.afandpa.org.
