PCA has always prided itself on our culture, and part of that culture is an emphasis on life-long, self-directed learning. As part of that goal, we offer online classes that provide an opportunity for our employees to learn new skills and enhance their talents. During our annual “Help Yourself, Help Others” challenge, PCA makes a donation to one of three charities that are focused on education. One of those organization is AdoptAClassroom.org.
To add to the fun of learning, some PCA facilities gather in groups to do a “Lunch and Learn” event. Plants that do so each get to select one of the recipients of PCA’s overall AdoptAClassroom.org donation. This past year, three PCA facilities held group learning events and participated in the selection.
As one of the participating facilities, PCA’s plant in Northampton, Massachusetts, selected a classroom in a local special-needs school. The plant has a personal connection to the classroom they selected, as one of the facility’s Customer Service Representatives has a family member that attends this school. As part of the schools’ programs, the students put on shows, go on field trips, make music videos and learn to stay active while building social connections.
A special “thank you” to all PCA employees who took online classes — either individually or as a group — which in turn benefitted the AdoptAClassroom.org program!
