PCA
achieves SFI Certification
June 28, 2007
Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) has achieved Sustainable
Forestry Initiative (SFI®) certification for its primary mills
and its network of corrugated combining plants. PCA has been a
supporter of the SFI® program since its inception in 1994.
This SFI® certification further demonstrated PCA's commitment
to sustainable forestry principles and practices.
"The Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI®) and these
certifications are important elements in providing environmentally
responsible packaging to our customers," commented Paul T.
Stecko, Chairman and CEO, of PCA.
The SFI program is a comprehensive system of principles, objectives,
and performance measures developed by professional foresters,
conservationists, and scientists, among others, that combine the
perpetual growing and harvesting of trees with the long-term protection
of wildlife, plants, soil, and water. For additional information,

This independent, third-party certification authorizes PCA to
use the SFI® on-product label. This label signifies at least
two thirds of PCA's packaging-raw material originates from mills
with SFI®-certified wood fiber procurement systems or recycled
paper sources. PCA exceeds this standard with 95% of our packaging
plants' raw materials coming from procurement systems certified
to the SFI® standard.
