PCA receives Clean Air Award
June 15, 2007
The Wisconsin Partners for Clean Air recognized PCA's Tomahawk,
WI mill for its efforts to improve air quality through environmental
innovation. PCA received the award for a series of voluntary
projects at its Tomahawk location that convert air pollutants
into green energy biofuel. The biofuel is used on-site in lieu
of virgin fossil fuel. This effort also reduces green house
gas emissions by more than 70,000 tons per year.
The Wisconsin Partners for Clean Air (WPCA) program is a coalition
of over 300 businesses, community organizations, schools and
government agencies committed to improving air quality through
voluntary action. WPCA educates Wisconsin businesses and residents
on air quality issues and works to improve air quality and reduce
harmful air emissions.
