On a Mission to Help Those in Need
September 16, 2013
PCA believes in reaching out and contributing to the local communities in which it operates. Our plant in Syracuse, New York, has established a strong connection with a number of local outreach organizations. In order to further strengthen its local ties, the plant’s General Manager recently asked employees to visit one of the organizations that PCA Syracuse sponsors.
Employees from manufacturing, shipping, design and customer service visited the Rescue Mission, a local outreach organization that offers food and shelter to those in need. Many of PCA Syracuse’s employees volunteer their services by providing boxes, participating in the annual “Walk a Mile in My Shoes” fundraising drive or by making monetary donations.
The employees were hosted by the Director of Donor Relations, who gave them a tour of the campus. She explained that there are a number of ways to participate and described some of the other yearly events the Rescue Mission coordinates, including the Binghamton “Ride for the Rescue” and the “Scan-Away Hunger” campaign.
According to a PCA team member who attended, “I just started my career as a customer service representative for PCA Syracuse in June, and I have honestly never worked for a company so enthusiastic about showing its new employees the charities and events that they can help contribute to."
The Rescue Mission has been changing lives since 1887 and is currently providing a record-breaking 700 meals a day in Syracuse alone. If you would like to volunteer or contribute to the Rescue Mission, please visit www.rmsyr.org.
