Recently Packaging Corporation of America joined GATX Corporation to help bring awareness to Chicago’s G. Shedd Aquarium. A custom-designed railroad boxcar was unveiled in Chicago’s Ogilvie Transportation Centerin October. Union Pacific Railroad and Metra also partnered on the project. This eye-catching boxcar, which displays an invitation to visit the aquarium, will travel across the country transporting PCA’s paper products.
PCA’s Bruce Ridley, Vice President of Environmental Health and Safety and Operations Services, said, “We are pleased to have the opportunity to route this boxcar across the country and bring attention to Shedd in such a unique way.”
According to the Shedd Aquarium’s President and CEO Ted A. Beattie, “We are excited about this partnership with GATX, and thanks to their help, we will continue to inspire communities across the nation.”
Since Shedd opened in 1930, the aquarium’s mission has been to connect individuals to the living world and inspire them to make a difference. The aquarium helps protect the Great Lakes by conducting scientific research through collaborative efforts with other Great Lakes organizations.
