This past year, PCA’s Omaha plant was a sponsor for the Autism Society of Nebraska’s “2014 Puzzle Walk and 5K Run.” This was the first time PCA participated in this event, and the response was fantastic, with 45 employees and their immediate family members in attendance at the event.
As a sponsor of the event, PCA hosted several activities proceeding the walk. These activities provided the opportunity for participants to have their pictures taken in a “photo booth” made of corrugated walls, to compete in a corrugated bean bag toss tailgating game or to play inside corrugated castles. PCA volunteers painted and decorated the activities space, while a PCA Omaha customer donated props for the photo booth and prizes for the bean bag toss.
According to the General Manager of PCA’s Omaha plant, participating in an event like this doesn’t just benefit a good cause; it also develops a stronger bond and sense of teamwork among co-workers. “I believe when employees become more involved and serve their surrounding community together, they become more cohesive and engaged.”
